The Legacy Banks Foundation Sponsors Girls Softball World Series

Pittsfield, Mass. – The Legacy Banks Foundation will serve as a Super Sponsor of the 2008 Babe Ruth Softball 16U World Series, sponsored by the Pittsfield Girls Babe Ruth Softball Organization. Pittsfield will host the 2008 Softball World Series on its fields at Gerald S. Doyle Sr. Memorial Park on Benedict Road August 1-8. According to Jim Stimpson, president of the Pittsfield Girls Softball League, the 2008 Babe Ruth Softball 16U World Series is the “biggest youth sporting event our community has ever seen.” The City of Pittsfield was selected from among many communities across the nation to host the event, in which 10 teams will earn the right to play.

Richard Sullivan, president of The Legacy Banks Foundation, expressed Legacy Banks’ commitment to supporting the program saying, “This is a wonderful opportunity for Pittsfield to be recognized on a national level for its commitment to youth athletics, and we are pleased to play a small role in assisting their effort. The economic impact of this event will be significant as thousands of tourists will visit the area to observe their children and grandchildren participate in a momentous game.

As part of the hosting requirements, The Pittsfield Babe Ruth Softball League is charged with raising $100,000 to cover costs. As a result, the organization is asking businesses and organizations to sponsor the event at various levels. Once again Legacy Bank has stepped up to do their part to support the youth of our great community. On behalf of all our young ladies and many volunteers, I thank you. Your gracious donation will help to make this event a life long memory for our girls.

The Babe Ruth League, Inc. is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to serving all youth. In particular Babe Ruth Softball has shown tremendous growth since its inception in 1984 with a mission of education, skill development, and participation for players at all levels of athletic ability while fostering fun.
