Review our instructions, restrictions and deadlines

GUIDELINES:

The following guidelines are provided to assist you as you prepare your proposal.  Like most philanthropic programs, we receive far more requests for support than we can approve.  We encourage all organizations, whether they receive a grant or not, to keep us informed of their activities.  This may prove to be helpful for future reviews and considerations for grant awards.  Please keep in mind that guidelines may change and in some cases are flexible.  The Foundation encourages requests for projects that receive funds from other sources as well.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION & ATTACHMENTS:

When preparing your request, please include a concise explanation of your organization's mission and other facts that will help us determine your geographic reach, number of clients served, programs in place, etc. and how this population will benefit from the project or grant.  Certain specific and supporting documentation and attachments are required as part of the grant application.  Please be sure to label each attachment in the upper right corner.

RESTRICTIONS:

  1. The Foundation will only fund requests from organizations with 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit status and/or those with "public charity" status or its equivalent.
  2. The Foundation's target areas are the communities in which Legacy Banks maintains its headquarters or a branch office.  The Foundation is particularly interested in communities with diverse needs, as well as areas where the Bank is an integral part of the neighboring business community.
  3. In some cases, site visits will be scheduled before funding decisions are made.
  4. Organizations receiving grant awards are expected to submit regular updates to the Foundation on the project funded.
  5. The Foundation will not consider multiple requests from the same organization in the same year.
  6. Organizations will not automatically be considered for funding the following year.
  7. There will be no funding to individuals or religious, political and fraternal organizations.
  8. The Foundation will not support any programs, organizations or institutions which in policy discriminates or whose interests are not in the best interest of the Foundation, its affiliates, employees, or communities served.

DEADLINES:

The Legacy Banks Foundation usually meets on a monthly basis for the review of all Grant Requests.  If a Grant Request is greater than $1,500.00, a more comprehensive proposal is required (see Additional Proposal Submission Instructions), and this more comprehensive Grant Request submission is due at the Foundation's office by the first of March, June, September or December in order to meet the deadline for the Foundation's next scheduled quarterly Board Meeting.  Please remember the Foundation needs adequate time for its Grant Requests review process; as well as any necessary time for coordination of public relations announcements and required design materials regarding the Grant.  Telephone inquiries regarding the status of any proposal after its submission are strongly discouraged.  Please contact the Foundation at 413.443.4421 with any general questions.
