The Legacy Banks Foundation Provides Grant to Berkshire South Regional Community Center

Pittsfield, Mass. – The Legacy Banks Foundation has provided a $1,000 grant to the Berkshire South Regional Community Center for 2009/2010 general operating expenses.

The funding will support the organization’s mission of building a sense of community and common purpose throughout the region, and to enhance the recreational, educational, cultural, health and social well-being of the residents of the Southern Berkshires.

 

A non-profit organization serving 17 towns, Berkshire South has been providing its 2,000 members a variety of services and programs for 6 years. The programs are based at its 40,000 square foot building that is handicap accessible and fully air-conditioned. It includes a fitness center, gymnasium, aquatic center, locker rooms, meeting room, auditorium, Youth Center, and Early Childhood Center.

 

Executive Director Eliza Crescentini thanked Legacy for its contribution saying, “Berkshire South holds central to its work; building a sense of community and common purpose in the Southern Berkshires. Legacy Banks has been a constant and dedicated partner in supporting our work. We are extremely grateful for their support.”

 

Richard Sullivan, president of The Legacy Banks Foundation expressed Legacy’s appreciation of Berkshire South Regional Community Center’s continued efforts to providing resources and programs in the Berkshire Community especially for our youth, saying “We are very pleased to support the work of this worthwhile organization.”

 

Established in 2005, The Legacy Banks Foundation continues the philanthropic tradition of Legacy Banks and its associates who have generously contributed their time, talent and treasure for the betterment of the communities in which they have worked and lived for well over a century. The Foundation focuses its support in six major areas - affordable housing, economic development, education, health and human services, civic and community, and arts & culture.
