Pittsfield, Mass. – Three Financial Service Leaders have recently been promoted at Legacy Banks according to an announcement by J. Williar Dunlaevy, Chief Executive Officer. They include Lynne Carlotto, who has been elected to Vice President for Compliance; Scott Schiff, who was promoted to Vice President for Sales and Business Development and Timothy Collins who has been elected Loan Officer for Legacy Real Estate Finance, Legacy’s national commercial real estate lending program.

PITTSFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS (April 27, 2009): Legacy Bancorp, Inc. (the “Company” or “Legacy”) (NASDAQ: LEGC), the holding company for Legacy Banks (the “Bank”), today reported a net loss of $792,000, or $0.10 per diluted share for the quarter ended March 31, 2009, which represents a decrease of $1.2 million from net income of $417,000 in the first quarter of 2008. The decrease was primarily the result of an increase in the loss taken on investments deemed to be other-than-temporarily impaired (OTTI), and an increase in the provision expense for loan losses.
