PITTSFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS (January 27, 2009): Legacy Bancorp, Inc. (the “Company” or “Legacy”) (NASDAQ: LEGC), the holding company for Legacy Banks (the “Bank”), today reported a net loss of $3.8 million, or $0.48 per diluted share for the quarter ended December 31, 2009, as compared to a net loss of $451,000, or $0.06 per diluted share in the fourth quarter of 2008.

Legacy Banks has welcomed a new Assistant Vice President of Loan Operations according to an announcement today by Joseph Santora, Senior Vice President of Operations. Michael B. Galligan, of Ballston Spa, NY has joined Legacy Banks in this capacity and will be based at the bank’s Pittsfield headquarters location.
